Did someone say, cup run?

Yesterday's #BUCSWednesday was heavily focussed on the various cup competitions, as well as the 5s competing in the IMS league against ChemSoc, where they recorded a hefty 5-0 victory. Sadly the eagerly anticipated grudge match between the 3s and 4s was not meant to be with losses for both sides, however it has been a decent cup run for the both of them, reaching the last 16 before bowing out. The2s were also defeated 4-2 in a very hard fought game  with Lincoln 1s, but can now solely focus on the league.

The 1s however, continued their fine form and put 5 past a weak Liverpool Hope side in adverse conditions and on a postage stamp for a pitch. Goals again from Jack Knox, who took home the match ball, Glocky and a first for Sam Mellor! Not to forget a penalty save from Keval, to ensure it was 2 clean sheets in 3 weeks! A trip to Edinburgh awaits...

Unbeaten Once More

Another unbeaten week for UoNFC, with all teams victorious and the 2s securing a well deserved point in the local derby with Nottingham Trent. The 1s travelled down to top of the table Oxford, hoping to narrow the gap, and came out 1-2 winners with exceptional goals from Jack Knox and Frank Glock. Special mention to Keval Patel in goal who produced a fine penalty save when the game was finely in the balance.

Clean Sweep!

A fantastic afternoon of football yesterday as every team, from 1s to 5s were victorious. This is the club's first full clean sweep in over a year and something to be very proud of. The 1s were away to Warwick in the Midlands 1A, desperately searching for a win to translate the hard work from training into league points. The end result was a 0-3 win with an own goal scored and others from Fitzy and Glock.

A Long Season Ahead?

It was the same old story for the 1s this week, who succumbed to a 3-1 loss, away at Oxford Brookes. In a game where the 1s had seemingly bounced back well from last week, a defensive error, coupled with a stunning free-kick from Brookes put UoNFC on the back foot. A cool finish by Jack Knox livened the team up, and a comeback was on, with Brookes looking increasingly flustered. Unfortunatelu, a quick counter attack saw Brookes score a third and the game was put to bed. A frustrating result given the improved performance from the week before, with wins surely around the corner for this talented squad.
