FIRST TEAM

The First team at the University of Nottingham consists of our scholars as well as those considered as highly talented individuals within the club, making up a strong and cohesive unit.

​

The 1's play every Wednesday in the Midlands 1A Division, where there the aim for the 2018/19 season is to seek promotion back into the Northern Premier Division. In addition, this particular squad is entered into the BUCS Trophy, a nationwide knockout cup competition, featuring some of the best sporting universities in the country.

Last year saw the 1st team come a narrow 2nd place, only 2 points off the title, and hope to go one better this season. A slow start meant the team were behind the 8 ball from the get go yet a tactical change and a few tweaks to the starting 11 yielded good results throughout the middle of the season and led to a late charge for the title.

The coaching is ran by Director of Football Nick Tester, who has a stellar reputation across the country, especially in the Independent Schools sector, with highlights winning the ISFA Cup.  Nick is aided by First Team Coach, Tom Hayes, who is also heavily involved with the 2nd team. Both coaches are involved in all squads training sessions, which help achieve the overall goal of cementing the University of Nottingham Men's Football Club as one of the most prestigious University institutions in the country.
